5th Winter Economic Crime Symposium

Economic crime in the Russo-Ukrainian war illustrates the major impact of fraud, corruption, and sanction evasion on national security and global peace. The evidence of economic crime being an important issue in warfare has started a process of a major policy shift in economic crime policing from purely finance-driven to policing motivated by the protection of national security. Alongside changes in economic crime laws and regulations, criminal justice system actors in the UK and internationally should rethink their operational prioritisation, which agencies should have competence, and cooperate to get a more holistic understanding of the actors and networks involved.

The 5th Winter Economic Crime Symposium brings together a diverse body of researchers, practitioners, students, and other community members to discuss policing economic crime in war. The Symposium is supported by the Journal of Economic Criminology.

Join scholars, practitioners, and other experts for a discussion and reflection on the most important problems associated with economic crime.
