Mr. Robert Marinescu-Muster was a speaker during the Risk & Resilience Festival on November 4, 2021. During his lecture, he explained how many problems with data and cyber attacks are based on people. His recommendation was to give people in organization more knowledge on how to spot an attack and what to do with the attack.
Almost every day in our “digital lives,” we are confronted with new and increasingly sophisticated cyber threats for which we are never entirely prepared and often unaware. The drive for digital transformation in both the corporate and public sectors, according to Mr. Marinescu-Muster, presents a wide spectrum of cyber threats that are difficult to control. The majority of the time, corporations rely on the technical infrastructure to solve these problems. Building technical capabilities to boost cybersecurity is only one part of the issue, according to research. A successful cyber attack’s behavioral dimension is rarely mentioned in cybersecurity strategies. Institutions and organizations must build essential competence in a wide range of cybersecurity related skills and knowledge, in addition to investing in technical infrastructure to reduce digital risks, to develop cybersecurity resilience.
He presented the preliminary findings of a pilot research that used big data and network science methodologies to identify the key skills and knowledge needed for the public sector to achieve cybersecurity resilience.
